The more you know before you buy it,
The less you'll pay so do your bit,
Research, check and ask
Before laying out your cash
And you'll enjoy the financial benefit.

What exactly is a street-smart consumer? A street smart consumer is a person who looks beyond the sales hype. Yes, they look beyond fancy sales gimmicks and slick words. They take the time to read the fine print (first). They look behind the veil of high-tech marketing gimmicks and seek the facts, they compare.

Whether they're buying a house or a stick of bubble gum. They not only look for the best value - they demand it. How do they demand it? Not by jumping up and down, pounding their fist on a table or politely begging others to give them the best value. They do it by comparison shopping, research and staying informed on the latest facts.

Even with the abundance of state and federal laws meant to protect us, shady businesses are still routinely separating unsuspecting consumers from their hard-earned money. And they're doing it with greater regularity. As they get better, you have to get better. By reading this article you have a great start.

Newsflash! Laws, regulations and policies won't and can't protect you if won't learn to protect yourself.

In addition, there are businesses that may not necessarily by shady or dishonest, but their service may be inferior or impersonal. For example, many businesses may be too big or too busy to give you the personal service you require or deserve.

Street-smart consumers are always searching for the best places to spend their hard-earned money. If the price is too low, they want to know why. A street-smart consumer has the attitude of if it's too good to be true, it probably is ... at least until proven otherwise.

A street-smart consumer also believes there is no such deal as something for nothing. They know at least one of three items will obligate them on any so-called something for nothing deal. (1) Personal information , (2) There future money, or (3) There personal information and future money.

Have the attitude of if it's too good to be true it probably is - at least until proven otherwise. Having a questioning attitude will greatly shrink the risk of anyone ever ripping you off again. And it will pay you for the time it took for you to read this article many times over and for years to come. What a bargain. Don't you agree?

Beware of greed blinding you. It has it's root in the something for nothing principle. Most people who experience a rip off usually bow to the appeal of something for nothing or the greed. It's the stock- in-trade of most rip off artist and shady businesses; they always try to appeal to our emotion of greed. Now you have ammunition to protect yourself from the greed fantasy.

An informed street-smart consumer is a businesses worst nightmare, especially a shady business. Why? Because their marketing sales pitches and slick promotions have less effect on them. For example, they look through the sales hype like a piece of glass. They focus on the deal, they take the time to compare, and they focus on the facts. If you do those three simple actions, you'll feel and experience the benefits of the street-smart consumer.
